Photos from our tour of Belvedere Castle today...

The castle was commissioned by Prince Eugen of Savoyen. It was designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt between 1714 and 1723.

Due to its incredible beauty the Habsburg family and Archduke Franz Ferdinand, whose assassination triggered WW I, chose the castle as their home.

The Upper and Lower Belvedere are connected by a marvelous garden with ponds and mazes. Today they host galleries with Austrian art.

Hey,
Make sure to check your passport to ensure you have enough pages to stamp BEFORE you get on the plane. It make take 5 - 10 days to process and mail to a guy who sometimes lives on a houseboat! I just hope all that card usage ensures a great gift for me upon your return:) Continue to travel well.
